Answered No. 4 spot for the team in the smallest format of the game. Raina, who last played for India against England in 2018, is eyeing a comeback to the national side with two T20 World Cups in consecutive years, 2020 and 2021.

Suresh Raina ready to be back in the hunt “I can be the No. 4 for India. I had hit in that opening before and delivered. I am seeing forward to an opportunity with 2-T20 World Cups coming up,” the 32-year-old said The Hindu on Thursday.

The No.4 batting place has been a hot subject of conversation for Team India in the last two years. While they worked Ambati Rayudu for some time, immediately before the World Cup in England, Vijay Shankar was granted the responsibility to play at the spot. But, Shankar got damaged during the tournament, Rishabh Pant appointed batter to play at the No.4 slot.

However, Pant has not done able to do right to his role and has been suffering harsh criticism from several quarters. He has been involved in poor shot selection and not placing a price on his wicket.

Raina, who has scored 5615 ODI and 1605 T20I runs, thinks the 21-year-old looks to be confused at the time, and someone needs to sit down and chat with him.

“He appears confused, is not playing his normal game. He is looking for singles, blocking, and seems lost,” answered the southpaw.

“Someone needs to speak to him as MS Dhoni would do to players. Cricket is a thinking game, and Pant has to be supported to play his attacking-brand of cricket. Right now, he shows to be playing under guidance, and it is not working,” he continued.

The left-handed batter, which is included as one of the most active fielders in world cricket, also told Dhoni has a lot to offer to Indian cricket and can confirm to be a good asset for the team in next year’s World T20.

“He is still fit, still a great wicket-keeper and still the most famous finisher in the game. Dhoni will be an asset-India in the T20 World Cup.”
