Saina Nehwal enters quarter-finals, Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal on Thursday proceeded to the quarter-finals of the continuing French Open here in Paris.
Nehwal beat Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt 21-10, 21-11 in the 2nd round.
The 29-year old did not allow her player to create any momentum, and the Indian quickly wrapped up the first game.
Nehwal capitalised in the second game and quickly covered up the match in about minutes.
She had won Hong Kong’s Cheung Ngan Yi in decent games 23-21, 21-17 in the 1st round match to enter the 2nd round on Wednesday.
Ngan Yi had the upper-hand in the first game, but Nehwal was ready to jump back to get the win 23-21.
The 29-year old Nehwal moved on with her winning drive to finish in straight games.
Later in the day, PV Sindhu mind plays her second-round match in the competition.
Kidambi Srikanth knocked out of the French Open after facing the first-round defeat upon Taiwan’s Chou Tien Chen 21-15, 7-21, 14-21 on Wednesday.so Saina Nehwal enters quarter-finals
In the 55-minute long meeting, Srikanth defeated his opponent in the first game. However, Chou made a rally and beat Srikanth in the 2nd and 3rd games to proceed to the 2nd round.
Parupalli Kashyap was also hit out after facing a defeat upon Hong Kong’s NG Ka Long Angus 11-21, 9-21 in his first-round match.
