Rohit Sharma joins rankings list, The International Cricket Council’s latest rankings released on Wednesday
Indian batting heavyweight Rohit Sharma has changed his route into the top 10 of the Test rankings later a stupendously successful home series against South Africa.
Rohit, who opened the innings in red-ball cricket for the first time in the series, amasses 529 runs and at an average over 130 in the 3-match series. He scored back to back-centuries in both the turns of the 1st Test in Vizag and served it up with a work best 212 in the last Test in Ranchi. His player of the list effort helped him make huge strides from 44th place before the series.

His latest record in the top 10 of Test cricket rankings means he is now just the 3rd Indian batsman after Virat Kohli & Gautam Gambhir to have stayed in the top 10 across all three formats.
Virat Kohli has been number one in all 3-formats while Gambhir has been at the top in Tests, T20Is & 8th in ODIs.
Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane’s beat of 116 in Ranchi has served him equal his career-high rank of 5th place, reached earlier in November 2016. He remains the 3rd-best Indian batsman in times of Test rankings after Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. With Mayank Agarwal in 18th position, India has completed the series with 5-batsmen in the top 20.
Fast bowlers Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, have completed the series with their highest ever rating scores tally. Shami is on 751 points, and one place below his career, best ranking of 14th achieved in Mar 2018, while Yadav is on 624 points, three below his best of 21st in July 2016.
