Mohan Bhagwat

Mohan Bhagwat is a name that is not an introduction. He is the sixth head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), considered the world’s largest voluntary organization. His full name is Mohanrao Madhukarrao Bhagwat. On March 21, 2009, he was elected as Sarsanghchalak of the Sangh. K. K. was the fifth head of the Sangh. s. Sudarshan had chosen Mohan Bhagwat as his successor upon his retirement.

Born on September 11, 1950, in a small town called Chandrapur in Maharashtra, Mohan Bhagwat has inherited the work of the Sangh. His father Madhukarrao Bhagwat was the head of the Chandrapur region. He also served as the region preacher of Gujarat. Mohan Bhagwat’s father introduced Lal Krishna Advani, who is called the ‘Pitamah’ of the BJP, to the Sangh.

The eldest of a sister and three brothers, Mohan Bhagwat, did his schooling from Lokmanya Tilak School in Chandrapur and then graduated from Akola in veterinary and animal husbandry. However, during the Emergency in 1975, he left his postgraduate course in veterinary medicine incomplete and became a full-time volunteer of the Sangh. After this, he never looked back and continued in the work of the Sangh, the most significant benefit of which came in 2009, when he was elected the head of the Sangh.

Mohan Bhagwat is unmarried and is one of the youngest to be elected head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He is known for his candid, practical and a clear vision of keeping the Sangh away from party politics.
