In a strange and even dangerous case, IIT Bombay graduate considers RRB – India’s premier institute for engineering has brought up the RRB Group D job. The engineer looked for the RRB Group D examination which was attended last year and newly accepted the position as a trackman in Dhanbad. The applicants, Shrawan Kumar, waves from Bihar and has performed his B.Tech and M.Tech from IIT Bombay.
In the acute shortage of jobs, employment raises multiple questions. A track maintainer’s claimed educational qualification for Group D job is an ITI degree for many trades. As such, for a post-graduate engineer student, an IITian no less, to pull up the job raises topics for candidates.

Shrawan has been selected as the track maintainer in the Dhanbad Division of Indian Railways. The post is commonly known as a trackman, which is a rather lower-position often chosen by students holding an ITI Degree in various trades. Shrawan Kumar has been posted at Chandrapura under Public Works Inspector or PWI, Telo. He looks after the track support between Chandrapura and Telo section.
Shrawan belongs to Patna, Bihar. He continued his communications from IIT, Bombay under a combined dual degree course in the year 2010.
He completed his B.Tech + M.Tech certificate from IIT Bombay in 2015.
Shrawan is joining Dhanbad Railway Division as a trackman has shocked many senior officers from the division.
They nevermore expected someone with such an upper-level degree taking a ‘Group D’ post.
He accused receiving RRB Group D Posting as a ‘trackman’ despite having an engineering degree from IIT Bombay due to ‘job safety’.
Shrawan said that he needed to become a Government Servant since teens and join a Sarkari Naukri. He is assured that he will be able to solve an ‘officer-level’ role in Government Sector soon. The qualification criteria for various posts offered under RRB Group D Recruitment are different. The primary or essential need is to qualify the Class 10 Board Exam. Therefore, an IITian with a Master’s degree from one of the top and most reputed technology institutes of the country accepting RRB Group D Post is a surprise to many.
