Battle Between 2 Chanakyas : In western Maharashtra, one of the most wealthy areas of the state, the poll battle will be strictly watched for many purposes. It is here that the BJP has achieved a coup of sorts to unseat the Maratha grand older man from his regular seat of power.
NCP president Sharad Pawar has been aggressively battling during the state after his leaders from western Maharashtra were poached and enlisted in BJP by Devendra Fadnavis. It is a classic conflict between the two Chanakyas of Maharashtra politics. And the battleground is undoubtedly western Maharashtra.
It holds the key to 70 of the 288 seats in the Maharashtra construction. The area is home to sugar barons and informal sector supporters. The chieftains, which are keys to these sugar industries, traditionally owed their loyalty to either the Congress or NCP. Now, with large scale installations by the BJP, the scale seems to have turned in the saffron party’s favour. The question is whether the internal resistance, caused by support to these imports, will affect the BJP and the Shiv Sena.
The trouble in the ranks of the BJP and Shiv Sena over seat distribution in this region is another critical factor. For both the people had fought the last tickets separately, they have their great base at grassroots in several of the clients here. Through the 5-years, there were feelers that they may fight independently this time as well. So the party workers have cultivated their voters.
After the alliance was declared, the seat-sharing upset many. Most of them have turned rebels, causing a threat to the coalition. In Kolhapur, for instance, the BJP’s ticket candidates have flexed their muscles upon the BJP as well the Sena. Related is the fate in Pune as correctly.
Socio-politically, the Maratha population is imperative in this region. Although the BJP has been working to change the people that a Brahmin chief minister has given the Marathas reservation,
Battle Between 2 Chanakyas, Sharad Pawar has been fighting to spread the message that a Brahmin has backstabbed a Maratha leader. Caste loyalty works, it is likely to benefit the NCP, which robbed of its essential leaders in this region.
The former chief minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan, fights from Karad South. Other famous names are Ajit Pawar from Baramati, Sharad Pawar’s grandnephew Rohit Pawar from Karjat-Jamkhed, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil from Nagar, Balasaheb Thorat from Nagar.
